The product
The challenge.
Choosing someone to look after a home or pet depends on more than location. Dates, experience, animal care and expectations all need to fit.
The designs connect profiles on both sides with search, availability, membership and contact. The brief adds requirements for verification and care information, including needs that can rule out an otherwise suitable match.
The journey at a glance
- Choose a sitter or house-sitting search
- Set location, dates and care requirements
- Compare relevant profiles
- Review availability and trust information
- Understand membership requirements before making contact
Design approach
How the design works.
Make the care requirements part of the match
The brief distinguishes animal types, medication needs, property facilities and stay dates. Search and profile designs provide places for people to compare care needs and availability.
This frames a match around the actual stay. A suitable location is one part of the choice; the responsibilities and dates matter alongside it.
Give profile information and verification distinct roles
Profiles include identity information, reviews and descriptions of the sitter or home. Verification is a separate flow, with requirements for handling supporting documents.
Profile descriptions explain the arrangement, while verification information addresses a different question about identity. Keeping those roles distinct avoids treating a verification mark as a guarantee of a safe match.
Explain access before the enquiry
Availability and membership sit at the transition from browsing to contact. The public service also shows a subscription requirement before contacting a sitter.
The design brings together the person’s interest, the available dates and the access needed to continue. This is the point where browsing becomes a decision about making contact.
Reflection
The design takeaway.
Next, ask owners and sitters to explain why a profile fits their needs and what membership allows them to do before they make contact.
